Ivan nodded thanks towards a shop owner, transferring money for a snack, his hunger had gotten the better of him, he was hoping to have held out until he guest has arrived but his hunger-will was weak. He took a bite of the food, his eyes scanning the surroundings by habit more than force, each unremarkable feature implanted into his memory for later use. He made his way down the street, upon his back his preferred weapon, his compound bow and arrows, while his dagger remain hidden under his uniform jacket. The dagger was nesting in a sheath held to his belt across his back, he was rarely off guard but food had that effect on him.
He tossed the left over wrapper into a nearby bin before extracting a cigarette from its packet, his lips gripping the yellowed bud and pulling it clear. He hated waiting, he wasn’t impatient but he often felt the fool for being around and doing nothing. Though not specifically assigned a route today, he was more free-loading around the area to assure peace, it was still better than other suburbs. The strip was near the safest place in Area D to be, rarely anyone acted up, let alone with a clear JTF enforcer marking the area. A quick pull burned the paper and grass between, smoke toiling into the air while he inhaled the smooth smoke.
Standing amongst the crowd he soon grew restless, he had been leaning against a concrete support for a building, hoping that Avaritia would eventually show. No luck had been had so far, he was left alone watching hundreds of people walk pass, his eyes habitually scanning their hands, pockets, faces and finally behavior. Overall he didn’t want to be on this shift alone, with nothing happening, there was nothing to distract. He would end up spending the day alone surrounded by his enemies, and he would do it bored out of his mind.
“Come on already, I swear dusk will hit soon.”

"And you'd probably continue to stand here like an idiot." Avaritia responded in her usual soft spoken voice. Even to her fellow task force members she was a bit rude, though she was a little less cruel around Ivan, it didn't mean she didn't have the urges to hurt him every now and again. She merely glanced up at the obnoxiously tall guy, giving a usual disgusted glare while she reached up to take the cigarette from his mouth.
"These are disgusting, you should stop" Her words seemed more of a command as opposed to a simple suggestion. Without a care in the world, she dropped the cigarette to the ground and stepped on it, "I'd rather you not smell like some trash" She hissed, giving him a rather disapproving look. Of all places they decided to be, it had to be here. She hated seeing all this trash polluting the area even though it was made specifically for them. Thinking about the altered only made the desire to kill them grow stronger, which sparked even more of her 'game' ideas to play with them.
"I can't wait until they're all dead."

“Lovely as always to have your acquaintance my young princess.”
Ivan retorted, a small tint of mockery lining his voice, hoping his words would strike a nerve and result in another uncanny argument between them. He liked the young raven, she was rude, but it was more often entertaining than not. His eyes looked down at the destroyed cigarette, slightly disappointed at the waste. He deposited the packet into one of his pockets before pushing off of the wall to stand straight. Glancing around his eyes narrowed slightly before turning back to Avaritia.
“How do you control your urge not to kill them?”
He pondered loud, although not too loud. Saying such things would result in some unwarranted attention but he knew the disgust they brought to the young soldier at this side. He himself however didn’t hate them, he could put up with them. He had no desire to kill those unfortunately affected by such a large scale disease. Some liked it and embraced, others fought themselves for control, and the rest were simply carriers, ignoring its presence.

Eyes narrowed at the name he'd called her, but more so at the tone of voice he'd chosen to take with her. The one thing she hated about Ivan was his ability to stay calm, even when she'd threaten him. She hated it, she hated him, and she wanted nothing more than to cause him some sort of pain. The desire to hurt Ivan soon disappeared after he'd asked his question. What a stupid question it was, too.
"My desire to watch them writhe in pain is far greater than my desire to kill them on the spot," She spoke in an almost too happy tone, a smile slowly forming on her lips, "I want to hear their screams, I want to see their expressions of hopelessness when they know they can do nothing to stop their death, but most of all... I want to hear them beg for their lives."
She gave Ivan a genuine smile, ever so slightly flashing those golden fangs of hers, "Seeing them in agony in their last moments is always the fun part of the game."

Ivan watched the pleasure in her eyes, the answer she gave was more than adequate, if anything a little too in-depth. He wasn’t surprised at her position towards the altered, but he wondered at all how she had become so. He smiled back at her, amused with her response and more than satisfied at her answer. He still didn’t understand her, but he still liked her. She was company worth having. He started forwards, making his way through the crowd as many turned away from them to keep their distance.
“You’re definitely twisted, I don’t know what goes on up in that head of yours and I’m definitely not too eager to find out, but you seem in plenty control despite your desire to kill and become something worse than them.”
He openly said, he hoped she wouldn’t take it the wrong way, but he needed a reaction he could take from her and use to get to know her better. He needed to push her buttons and know the limits of her capabilities. Although he never doubted she was strong, or a capable fighter, but mentally he needed to access her. He wanted to know exactly what he was walking beside. A small tinge in his body ached for him to pull a cigarette out, his body lacking it’s toxins and now complaining from the lack there of. A small sigh escaped his lips as he walked slowly through the strip.

As he started to walk, Avaritia happily followed right beside him. She seemed a bit happy being consumed in her own dark thoughts and that even made her have a slight hop in her step. In an odd habit, her hand softly clenched into a fist then opened in a slight pattern, appearing as if she was holding onto the air. Ivan definitely kept her attention every time he began to speak, and this time only made her laugh a little. Worse than them? In her mind, nothing was worse than garbage.
"Something worse? Impossible. They're all trash, nothing but a waste of space in this world," She somehow managed to hiss, while her gaze jumped from person to person that they passed, "Im sure you'd kill if one came at you, as would any of the Task Force members here. We are what controls this area, we contain the mess every other 'powerful figure' cannot. So explain to me.. how exactly do I become something worse when I, and even you, are the ones that help rid this world of it's impurities? Are you not 'something worse' with me, then?"
Her way of thinking could be considered upsetting to most. She truly detested all altered, in fact, she truly detested anyone that opposed the task force in general. Avaritia couldn't help but quickly reach up and softly pat Ivan's cheek while they walked.
"The world became an even more horrid place since those filth appeared, do you not agree?"

Despite his opposition to her words, it didn’t bother him. He could understand how many had come to view the altered, he didn’t view them as such but they had the potential to cause fear. The unknown of what they could do was what caused the conditions they were in, it wouldn’t take long for one to come forward with such power that they could cause serious harm, merely because they wanted to. At the moment there were little restrictions, many of them had what they needed, they were just being controlled as an unreliable risk to society and even the world itself.
“I do, but I don’t. I understand the necessity of what they’re going through, and what we have to do. Doesn’t mean I believe it’s justified. Besides, when I said you were worse, you kill these people the way you do for sport or fun? Or do you wait for them to make their move first, for them to step out of line?”
His inquiry was solid, he hadn’t know Avaritia too long, and he knew what state of mind she was in. Her conditions for destroying this supposed filth was something he never had to cross before however, he had never been with her before when it was required one had to die at their hands. He was always partnered with someone else or even on a lone duty. Not that it would change anything though, the validity of her killings would rarely be detested while inside Area D. Something she would surely have to love, if she were anywhere else, her ability to thrive on their pain and suffering would be cut short by forced laws.

"Doesn't matter if I kill or provoke them for sport or fun, I'm still doing society a favour." Her tone was a little more cold this time around, "You-- You seem soft, sympathetic even. One day I would like to play one of my little games with you... It was be nice to see how long it would take to break you" She'd mumbled the last bit of her sentence, obviously beginning to trail back into her dark thoughts. This time, however, they were dark thoughts about Ivan.
Turning her gaze completely on the older man, she couldn't help but just want to stare eerily at him, taking in every detail of his face. A genuine curiosity rose while she questioned in her mind- What kind of expressions would he make at the brink of death? What would he say? Would he cry? Would he remain the same as he was? Slowly her hand rose once more, pressing against his cheek lightly as she gazed at him in almost a hypnotic state.
"One day I'll get to see you break~" She whispered faintly.

This time she surprised Ivan. He had been expecting everything else, but one part of him hadn’t been prepared for the statement she had made about breaking him. While it wasn’t the fact that she wanted to, he knew she was a sadistic twisted fuck, but what really surprised him was her assuming she would break him. He may not be as reckless and bloodthirsty as many, but that made him more dangerous. Every part of him was calculated to a fine detail, and everything in between ever more so. He wasn’t someone to take lightly, and whether Avaritia was being serious or not, it still surprised him.
“The day you beat me, your reward will be the satisfaction of hurting me, those pure moments of agonizing pain that you will get to personally inflict. Not that you’ll get the chance, however I will promise you that as a reward, if you ever beat me.”
He laughed at her composition, he could never view pain and death like she did. He didn’t particularly want to, that was something she was gifted with. He was happy with his curse of ignorance, his un-forbidding desire to keep people alive, to let them have the experiences that they desired, regardless of position. He wasn’t a monster. Avaritia on the other hand, was. He admired her strength, at least she was here doing something that would eventually help someone, she was indirectly helping many of these altered by being here to protect them. There was plenty of bad ones, but there were plenty of good ones too. He didn’t doubt that she was ignorant of this however. He wasn’t in any position to quickly remind her either.
“So, what say we get something to eat? I’m still pretty hungry.”

"Just don't let anyone else break you before I do, who knows how weak you can possibly be~" She somewhat teased. Listening to Ivan make his promise only made her a little more eager to reach that level, but for now, he'd merely remain a comrade. At the mention of getting something to eat, she hadn't realised that she was in fact hungry. She'd often get caught up in her twisted thoughts to even mind what her body was telling her.
"mah, you eat so much and here I haven't even eaten a thiiiing~" She muttered in a seemingly playful tone, a small pout playing at her lips. Sometimes even Avaritia couldn't quite understand her 'mood swings'. She did know she would never act this way around an Altered, only ever people she "adored", such as Ivan.
"Where we going to eat?"

”Probably why you’re so small and cute, you neglect to feed your own body. Such a tiny little thing wouldn’t take much to sustain anyway right?” Ivan teased back, he knew the girl wouldn’t care for his attempt at a reaction, but it amused him to find out just how detached she was. He wasn’t entirely hungry, having devoured some food before his lazy company had arrived. He was asking for her sake, well aware of her own shortcoming to supplying her body with its needs. His eyes had been dancing through the displays thrown out by owners to attracted customers. Nothing appealed to him, so it inevitably came back to her.
”Your choice, my treat.”
Ivan followed her lead from there, taking to her side while the decision was made. Whatever she chose he would end up getting some as well. A few of the altered around stared, many not used to the presence of an enforcer in the immediate area. The Russian ignored the looks, instead focusing on his chosen company. Unsure if she would actually decide on anything or not.
