EXPERIENCE POINTS

Here on Altered Dreams we use a rank-based character progression system which is fueled by experience points. Experience points are rewarded to people for their accomplishments and may be later used to purchase new ranks and unlock abilities. This applies universally, for experience effects your character's capabilities, without them they will never grow. Experience is earned per account, and will transfer from one character to the next if your current character dies. However, because exp is removed from your side bar when it is used to purchase new ranks, please keep track of your experience points in your signature.

HOW TO EARN THEM

Earning experience is a simple as roleplaying. Experience points will be awarded to players upon completing their threads, at which point a staff member will enter and grade them. When grading, five points of experience will be rewarded for each post, bringing us to the basic amount earned. However, staff gives a bonus amount of experience based on the quality and length of your thread, ranging from 1 to 15% of your total exp. Thus, as you gain more experience, this bonus will produce more satisfying results. Furthermore, an additional bonus will be applied to event threads, though the particular bonus is specific to each case. To distance ourselves from solo-threading, we do permit it, but the threads yield no bonus and only receive normal exp for the first post.

A bonus of this percentage is given to those whose efforts were minimal. While they did complete a thread, their posts were short or sloppy, and seemed to have no real content to them.

6-10%

A bonus of this percentage is given to those whose efforts were moderate. Not only did they complete a thread, but one that was multiple pages and shows clear effort. The posts were of satisfiable length, and there appeared to be some direction of plot.

11-15%

A bonus of this percentage is given to those whose efforts were substantial. They clearly took the time to complete a thread multiple pages in length, and it acheives a great depth of story. The posts were of substantial length, and written with an apparent passion for the plot.
